Position Description:
We seek an experienced Chem Eng - NGL Recovery Engineer with extensive experience in the separation, fuel treatment and hydrotreating processes in the petroleum refining to support clean fuel program as initiated company-wide in the Saudi Aramco Refineries for environment compliance. The engineer will join with the highly technical group in Downstream Process Engineering Division under Process & Control System Department (P&CSD). Process & Control Systems Department (P&CSD) is a leading department under Saudi Aramco Engineering Services that provides specialized and high level technical services and consultations to the operating facilities and other Saudi Aramco organizations. Areas of technical support include operation support, research & technology, capital program support, protection of the environment, knowledge sharing & innovation and talent development. The downstream process engineering division is one of the critical entity under P&CSD that provides support and expertise to Saudi Aramco Refining through three key units such as Distillation & Treating, Catalytic Conversion and Flare & Relief Systems.
Duties and responsibilities include the following:
The candidate will play a leading role in providing support to the process engineering and technical services functions related to the field of clean fuel development program
This includes performing process design, feasibility and optimization studies, evaluate application of new technologies and best practices, define scope for the plant and hardware modifications, and participate in selecting process licensor and catalyst vendor to fulfill the requirements as stated in the clean fuel development program
In addition, the candidate will support the capital program associated with clean fuel development program at different stages since its inception to project completion
This includes participating with the team for screening study, development of design basis document, reviewing PFD, P&ID, front-end engineering, project specifications, detailed engineering documents, and provides technical support during construction and commissioning activities
The candidate should be able to determine the consequences of fuel quality specification change to other separation and treating processes in the refinery by using simulation model and tool and recommend optimum and cost effective configuration to achieve clean fuel objective
Minimum Requirement:
BS in Chemical Engineering, with Minimum 10 years experience in the petroleum refining industries. This includes thorough knowledge and experience in the Crude & Vacuum Distillation, Fuel Gas Treating, Naphtha /Kerosene/Diesel Hydrotreating Units.
Needed experience for this position:
Knowledge of worldwide automotive fuel specification is essential. Exposure of industry standards applicable to petroleum refining is desirable. The position requires excellent computer, oral and written communication and presentation skills
Exposure of hydroprocessing such as hydrocracker or cat cracker and other separation process such as solvent de-asphalting and asphalt blowing is desirable
Knowledge of clean fuel development program being implemented worldwide is essential. Experience includes performing process engineering, carrying out various feasibility, debottlenecking and optimization studies to mitigate challenges associated with the refining business
Sufficient experience related to capital project implementation is essential. This includes performing heat & material balances, developing PFDs/P&IDSs Process Control & Automation including emergency shutdown system, participating in PHA and value engineering preparing process design basis, evaluating process licensor and catalyst vendor for new catalyst selection
Knowledge of refinery integration between primary/secondary treating units, product quality/specification and their control are essential
The candidate should be familiar with industry practices including relevant national and international standards
Should be conversant with the use of process software such as PROII, HYSIS, ASPEN, HTRI
Possess effective communication and leadership skill
Mentoring young and in-experienced engineers is desirable
