Schools

Saudi Aramco operates its own school system for the children of eligible expatriate employees. The majority of teachers are American, and more than half hold graduate degrees. The education is superior -- in fact, when compared to stateside counterparts, the Saudi Aramco children have generally ranked in the top 10 percent.

Employees from locations other than the US and Canada have additional schooling options to suit their child’s home country curriculum. For example, many European employees choose to send their children to the British Grammar School, located a short distance from the Saudi Aramco community in Dhahran. This international school provides education from Pre-Reception through to Year 11.

The school program incorporates the requirements of the UK National Curriculum. The Company pays 100% of costs and provides transportation to Dhahran High School for children. There are also other international schooling options available.

Since the communities are relatively small, children can usually walk to school. Anyone who isn’t within walking distance can hop on a company-provided bus.

Our schools operate on a trimester system. Each three-month school session is followed by a four-to six-week break when students can take a wide variety of enrichment programs and special tutoring sessions – or travel.

Students can enjoy all kinds of sports plus music and drama productions. There are extensive athletic facilities -- often more than you would find in the schools back home with air-conditioned gymnasiums, full-size athletic fields, swimming pools and tennis courts.

After the ninth grade students can attend one of many excellent accredited schools throughout the world. The company pays a substantial portion of private high school costs, so children have the opportunity of attending the finest schools. For college students, Saudi Aramco will also cover costs for some visits to Saudi Arabia.
